Colin is nothing but a provocateur
The Thunder are 33-9 when Westbrook gets a triple double
The Thunder average more points per possession when Westbrook gets a rebound versus anyone else on the team
I don't want to hear about stat padding or how his triple doubles aren't essential.
When Westbrook is off the court the Thunder are far worse than Brooklyn analytically.
I'm a Philly fan, from Philly, AI is one of my 3 favorite players ever, I got to even meet the guy on multiple occasions, but let's be real here.
Notice how Colin doesn't mention Mutombo who was also on that team, who was still DPOY, an All-Star, All-NBA 2nd Team, and league leader in rebounds that season. Mutombo was better than anyone on OKC not named Westbrook.
Iverson was an overrated defender who hung in the passing lanes. He wasn't a bad defender, but his steal totals overrated his actual defensive presence.
Iverson in the playoffs 2001: 32.9ppg, 6.1apg, 4.7rpg, 2.4spg, 38.9%FG, 77.4%FT, 1.1 Points per shot
Westbrook in the playoffs: 37.4ppg, 10.8apg, 11.6rpg, 2.4spg, 38.8%FG, 80.0%FT, 1.23 Points per shot
Let's also not forget that Russ had Beverly hounding him the entire series. He has to do everything on the court for these guys. His 40 minutes are different from other player's. He's running the entire show at all times sprinting up and down the court. My 76ers almost got bounced twice by Toronto and Milwaukee.
Who the hell did he have to trust on his team? Oladipo shooting 34% from the field and 24% from 3 averaging more shots than points in that series? Roberson who is intentionally left open? Outside of Russ, not a single player on OKC averaged more than 8rpg per 36. Russ is the only player on the team who had a positive OBPM.
