Colin don't get enough credit either! :wow:
Can you imagine a majority of the "hot" producers of today showing how they came up with melodies?

"Naw, I really didn't come up with the melody. It came preset in the software program. I just sped it up a lil bit and added some trap beat to it"

:mjlol:

I actually picked up The Chronic on CD from Best Buy a couple weeks ago. The melodies and instrumentation:ahh:

One of the many unsung heroes of the DR days. I remember being a youngin and reading the CD booklets and seeing names like his. I’d read it from back to front. Even the motherfukkas who mastered it. They would go to Bernie Grundman mastering, which I believe was one of they best spots lol

Usually if you’re a session musician you don’t “just come up” with one idea and have that be the one you use. A lot of bands do jam sessions and just play, the producer gives them advice on what type of sound to look for and they go in and jam for a few hours. Listen back and pick and choose and work on some stuff then refine it til it becomes the finished product.
