Considering Lebron still plays basketball, that coaching part of your statement is fluff.

Secondly Lebron James averages more assist; but Larry Bird has played with five Hall of Famers ( and tons of people consider Kevin Mchale a top 5 PF). So yeah averaging more assist with less talent should be celebrated.
