let's put Blueprint's wackness.weakness on blast.....he was outshined by a whiteboy, and allowed a barely breathing Nas to beat him due to his complacency...

1998 Jay Z would have eviscerated NaS. 2001 Jay was boring and vulnerable.

never really understood how stillmatic and blueprint could be classics

songs on the blueprint that prevent it from being a true classic:

girls, girls, girls, (seriously one of the worst jay tracks EVER recorded. song is corny in every fukking sense of the word)
also thought "song cry" was cringeworthy even though some cats like it

on stillmatic:

basically the last 4 tracks are meh.

and in my opinion if there are skippable tracks the shyt aint really CLASSIC. might be a great album, but it aint CLASSIC

of course the definition of classic changes from person to person, but i dont think either of these are truly bonafide classics.. i used to think so, but upon recent listens, nahhhhhhhhhh. some of those tracks aged horribly

Yeah Eminem did kill Jay on Renegade...but Jay's verse was still pretty good, Em was just a lot more hungrier and outdid Hov. Takeover as a song was solid as well, and actually had people thinking that Nas was done for...he went at Mobb Deep as well, but I'm not really sure if it really affected P as much as people say it did, I think the summerjam thing was what did the trick.

Blueprint was pretty solid imo...I liked it more than the volumes sans Vol 1.

1998 Jay Z would have eviscerated NaS. 2001 Jay was boring and vulnerable.

I dunno, if Jay couldn't get the job done when Nas was arguably at his lowest point...how would Jay kill Nas in '98?

I agree with Stillmatic and BP not really classics, just good albums. lol I liked the Girls,Girls,Girls song. Hola Hovita I could do without :scusthov:

I like Stillmatic more than BP, fukked a lot with more songs on there than Blueprint. The intro, Destroy and Rebuild, Got Yourself A Gun, Rewind and One Mic. On BP I only go back to play either Renegade, Song Cry or Takeover.

But I agree, they're not really classics...
