Comedy Spots in Matches

I was at a show last night and Orange Cassidy was on the card. First time seeing him, and I heard his name tossed around. I was looking forward to see what he was about.

Fast forward to the end of the match and it was like 95% gimmick/comedy. Dude did spots where his hands were in his pockets and he’d do moves with them still tucked.

When did this become popular and basically the norm? Was it DDT that started the fukkery? PWG made it popular in the states?

Now you have plenty of comedy spots in matches. Sometimes I don’t mind it, but most times it’s or , especially if you check out a Joey Ryan match.

Also, can this dude Cassidy actually go? Or does he rely on shytty comedy gimmicks?
