I mean, there's a reason certain writers like Alan Moore or Tom King get elevated

I'd put Hickman in there but I think hes overrated

But a lot of it is month to month just to get by stuff

So I do t know why we get mad at Directors for saying the same stuff about the movies?

Some writer artist teams do great work that translates well. Bendis/Maleev on CD, Moore/Gibbons Morrison/Quitely Gaiman /Anyone. Others are just fast food. I love marvel movies but Batman Begins>>>>all of them from a cinema pov.

Agreed. I think Alias screwed him and the failure of Powers to become a mega popular book finished him.

It doesn't help that he can get acclaim for books without having to do much. He gets praise for miles and he left that character stagnant for years to the point that the first time he actually gets a character boost was from a movie written by dudes who know what they were doing. And there's the "praise" he gets for his DC work now when all he managed to do is piss off Superman fans.
