@adonnis - pull up, there's refreshments
It's very obvious, "Life's a B!tch" is the more classic song but "Coming of Age" is an obvious reiteration of the themes that prevail through "Life's a B!tch". He tried to advance upon it by doing the back and forth and including a friend who's been masterminded to allow Jay Z to posture over him through the song to advance his own persona
Jay Z also peeped Tupac reinterpreting the concept of "I Gave You Power" for "Me & My Girlfriend" . Pre-Reasonable Doubt Jay Z offerings include hooks sampling Tupac more signs of Jay-Z expanding upon previously seeded ideas.
For you non-creators this is what people say when they mean that no idea is original, you're paying for an artistic interpretation of an idea that's been there long ago and influenced the next artist to filter it through their style and process and evolve it through the way they want to make it. This is what Kanye West is referring to when he speaks on why he went down a more "innovative path" with Yeezus. Meaning he forgoes perfection to push boundaries and plants the seeds for another like-minded person to peep game and perfect it.
This post has inspired me to create Plato-like idiom that's probably worth millions, unfortunately I can't share it with you at this time but I will let you know you're witnessing the writing of a man who will go onto be one of the songwriters and greatest musical acts of all-time
Cheers,
