"EXCLUSIVE: SMAC Entertainment has signed Grammy, Emmy and Academy Award-winning musical artist, actor, author, and activist Common for management.

Under the guidance of Constance Schwartz-Morini, April Guidone and Derek Sanderson, the company will work with the multi-hyphenate to seek out strategic brand partnerships and endorsements, non-scripted projects, and brand development for future products and collaborations. Factoring into the artist’s signing with SMAC was his alignment with the company in terms of a commitment to creative excellence, authenticity, and social impact and reform.

“We are beyond thrilled to welcome Common to the SMAC family,” said the company’s CEO, Constance Schwartz-Morini. “His commitment to keeping it real and making a difference aligns perfectly with our motivating force at SMAC and we believe Common is not just a great fit; he’s a game-changer. We can’t wait to take off on this exciting journey together!”

Recently penning health and wellness book And Then We Rise, which is scheduled for release on January 24, Common can currently be seen starring on Apple TV+’s sci-fi drama series, Silo, which has been renewed for a second season. As an actor, he’s also been seen on shows like Never Have I Ever and The Chi. Film credits include The Hate U Give, Ocean’s Eight, Girls Trip, John Wick: Chapter 2, Suicide Squad and Selma, to name just a few.

Common won an Oscar for his Selma song “Glory” and went on to snag a second nomination for his and Diane Warren’s “Stand Up for Something,” written for the film Marshall. A famed rapper, he’s put over a dozen studio albums since 1992, and made his Broadway debut in Between Riverside and Crazy, during the show’s run hosting Justice Nights on Broadway, where he invited justice advocates, formerly incarcerated and system-impacted people, their family members, and community changemakers for a special discussion and performance.

As part of his dedication to social causes, Common has been actively involved in his hometown of Chicago through Common Ground’s Dreamers & Believers mentoring program, also co-founding the tuition-free creative arts school, Art In Motion. His social impact organization, Free to Dream, reflects his 20 years of leadership as a change-maker, using his platform to advance critical social causes in education, justice, wellness, and jobs.

Other notable clients of management and production company SMAC Entertainment include Wiz Khalifa, Michael Strahan, Deion “Coach Prime””Sanders, Erin Andrews, Diana Flores, Nikki and Brie Garcia, Tony Gonzalez, to name a few. Recent projects for the firm on the producing front include the critically acclaimed Max documentary BS High, as well as Prime Video titles Coach Prime and The Underdoggs.

Common continues to be represented by UTA, Ceremony Music, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, The Lede Company and Think Common Entertainment."

And he needs another rep in SMAC?

No wonder Common is always in a commercial, campaign or movie/show. He’s down with 5+ agencies.

Comm has really carved a niche for himself over the years. He’s one of the last guys I’d have expected to become as ubiquitous as he has.

He’s one of the most recognizable “old school” Hip-Hop figures to average people who aren’t even into Hip-Hop at all for things he’s done outside music maybe behind only Snoop and right on par with Ice T, Ice Cube, and LL Cool J. 50 & Meth are somewhere in there too.
