Sheriff’s detectives today were investigating the slaying of a man gunned down as he sat in a car wash waiting area in Compton.
The shooting at JV’s Car Wash in the 900 block of West Rosecrans Avenue, near Wilmington Avenue, was reported around 4:10 p.m. Wednesday, said Deputy Don Walker of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau.
Responding deputies found the man had been struck multiple times, and paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene, he said.
Witnesses said the man was sitting in the waiting area when a gunman appeared at the east end of the car wash and fired several rounds before running south on Kemp Avenue and out of view, Walker said.
