Every company I have worked for I'm the only black guy there in the network or programming department.

This has got to change. Black people need to get into math more in college.

You got plenty of black kids pursuing computer science and computer engineering at HBCU's, breh. Even though I got my degree at a different university, PV engineering grads been eating good down in the H.

However, networking and programming are two areas of IT that it pays to network or have connections. Those Asian dudes are putting each other on everyday.

When are you going to get married and have a child, friend. We need to have more stable families too instead of making our sole aspirations, employment, friend.

Not much really... basic bash scripting

but I'm a beast in Cisco networking and Cisco VOIP.

I consider myself more of a network engineer than a programmer.
But I do basic programming to automate certain tasks because I'm lazy!

I think there's a misconception about Asians in IT...It seems to me that companies feed into the stereotype that Asians work hard and are extremely intelligent (Not saying some don't work hard and they are unintelligent)...I know the ones I work with are a bit dense and a few have been let go.

I work in engineering. I'm part of the field/support staff and my department is composed of:

  • 3 blacks (none of us american are tho)
  • 1 hispanic
  • 2 whites
  • 1 asian

2 managers are white and indian

Our Research and Development team (which are far more advanced engineers than us) is all indian and asian except for these 2 russian guys.

It's not

it's challenging YES but not as hard as some of these lazy bums make it seem. Only gotta get through your math before you reach your core major classes. You have to take 4 hard math classes

  • Calculus
  • CalculusII
  • Differential Equations
  • Calculus III
