It's transparent that they were only letting him keep it for the headlines of him having 2 belts.

Soon as he got them they had no reason to let him keep.

People have been calling out him not defending it for a long time.

UFC are pretty good at marketing I'll give them that

It's more than that. DC got injured this week and they have no main event for UFC 206. They bump Pettis/Holloway to a 5 rounder, make up an interim title, now you've got a PPV main event again(albeit a weak one)

He should have vacated the title months ago.

No other fighter would get this long to hold a belt with no intentions of ever defending it.

Check the Ring MMA thread, I said months ago that he would never fight at 145 again when he took the first Diaz fight. I do think that being the first fighter to hold two belts simultaneously was something that both Dana/Conor's team were interested in promoting which is why they didn't strip him until now

Definitely.

Like I said, you have to give credit to UFC, they know how to market.

People keep saying oh well this stars gone, they're going to fall out then within months a new star emerges.

They are a well oiled machine PR wise right now.

They had people really believing rousey could fight men and shyt.
