Plenty of people were/are ignorant of what MLK stood for, doesnt make it better. MLK got more done than Malcolm did, and was getting more radical as he got older. His popularity with white people got worse every year after the Dream speech, and he was beginning to push for reparations. Rhetoric is all good, but Malcolm never engaged in any violence against whites either.

MLK end goal was to unite the poor of ALL races, after he successes fighting racism,he started talking about the economy and socialism, a lot of poor whites were receptive to him that's why they killed him. Malcolm X actually denounced his radical ideals towards the end of his life. He realized that you can't find racism with racism. Then the black Nazis (the nation of Islam) murdered him.
