If you want a team to accept Westbrook without a 1st round pick (which is probably still wishful thinking on my part), you will have to accept trash back :manny: Cam Reddish can hopefully replace Stanley Johnson production, Rose would be a backup guard and Quickley would be an experiment. I think he can still be a decent role player, only 23 years old who just doesn't have a role on the Knicks anymore.
There's no point in trading Westbrook for even worse contracts that stay on the books.

westbrook is an expiring. why trade a first round pick and take back worse contracts?

Not to mention, he’s actually managed to play himself into being a positive on the team so there’s no desperation like in the off-season. At this point, Russ should only be traded if it’s a home run move.

The Lakers I think are going to be far better than people think still. If I was them I wouldn't make any trades that involve those first at this point.

Not sure if Russ is an overall positive...He does some good things like:

* Pushing the pace
* Creating open shots off penetration

But he also does some bad things like:

* Boneheaded Turnovers
* Forces up quick shots after he makes 1 or 2
* Over Penetrating

But the biggest issue with Russ is that teams leave him wide open because they know he's a poor jump shooter.....This hurts the spacing for Lebron/AD......We've seen this play out with Russ before in the playoffs......When LA played Houston back in 2020 they left Russ wide open. Russ bricked shot after shot. When Russ played Philly in 2021 they left him wide open, and again, Russ bricked shot after shot...In Russ' last 8 playoff series going back to 2016, he's shooting 38/29 from the field.

If I had to choose..I would take AD/Lebron and a very good supporting cast > AD/Lebron/Russ and a less than avg supporting cast.

I like Reaves but it’s a shame he’s the 3rd best player on this team most nights. With Lebron and AD playing like this just a little more talent and they could have a chance at a run.

People didn't wanna listen, but me and others kept repeating ITT that Bron has always started a lil slow for like 7-8 years now and then ramps it up. Certain posters didn't listen.

Someone who has kinda been a lil quiet recently has been Lonnie Walker. Idk certain times he should be the guy to kinda take that 3rd scorer spot and occasionally he'll go ghost. Reaves is always gonna get some shine cause he plays well no matter if he's scoring or not

I don't even think that trade is realistic for the Lakers, but you 100% pull the trigger on that if it was ever a viable option.

Quickley is essentially a better version of Pat Bev
Reddish is an upgrade on all the Lakers backup wings/stretch forwards
DRose can provide some vet leadership without being a headache, and can be effective in a small role
All with Bojan as the centerpiece.

That is infinitely better than having Westbrook. I'd say whatever you can get back for him will be better.

Which contract is bad? Both Noel and Rose have team options that can be declined this summer. Bojan would be the only long term guy, and Quickley is making 2 mil.
This is true. I'll just say I don't like the idea of someone in the front office getting attached to Rose or Noel and the option getting picked up.

I also think most of those players are trash and I'd rather have Westbrook over all of them besides Boggie. Look at tonight's game for NY:

Rose was 1-3 in four minutes. The fact Thibs pushed him out of the rotation speaks volumes.
Quickley was 1-12 in 26.
Reddish was a DNP.
Noel was a DNP in Detroit.

Why not just keep Russ and try to get Boggie alone? None and Bev match the salary.

There's something to be said for chemistry and against all odds, Russ looks happy again and he's contributing. They could use him on a modest deal going forward. No need to burn that bridge for a bunch of scrubs.
