Police don't typically find dead bodies in their patrol cars parked outside headquarters ... but this was not a typical day for these cops.
Officers from the Azusa Police Department discovered the body of 37-year-old Eric Valencia decomposing in the backseat of one of their police vehicles.

The department released body cam footage of the officers making the grisly discovery on the morning of March 26, and yeah ... they had the same question you do right about now: How in the world did Valencia end up inside the police car?
Here's the story, according to Azusa PD ... Valencia was pulled over on March 20 for suspected intoxication while driving a vehicle with his kids in the backseat.
Valencia told cops he only had one beer, but a breathalyzer test revealed his blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit.

He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and felony child endangerment and booked into the local jail.
After his release on March 23, Valencia approached the police vehicle outside headquarters, opened an unlocked door, and entered the backseat ... all while showing no signs of distress.
One day later, Valencia's family filed a missing persons report at the police department before the corpse was found. His cause of death is still undetermined.

. Rip to the brehito.
That's really strange. Why would you get into the back seat of a police car? Those doors don't open from the inside. It's like locking yourself in a hotbox.
