Wouldn’t be an issue at my job. Plenty of people including VPs wear sneakers.

The video is confusing. She says she’s been in these roles but she hadn’t figured the vibe at that office to know Sambas wouldn’t fly?

Definitely getting sent home at my job. Finance in New York City don't play that. Maaayyybe the IT team, but that's cause they stuck us out in another building away from the people, lol

Yall 3 piece suited up in 100 degree summers :heh: . I have seen the :flabbynsick: CEOs talking openly about "yes the software teams can wear hoodies, we're cool :flabbynsick: :flabbynsick: :flabbynsick: "

She should have an employee handbook that outlines what she can and can’t wear. I’d refer to that.

If there is no dress code listed or it’s up for interpretation than I’d ask for paid time off and reimbursement for the shoes.

But why complain about what your job requires you to wear? They are paying you. If you don’t like it, get paid somewhere else :manny:

Every company/office has different dress codes, can’t call it corporate America. A law firm might have smart casual when not meeting clients or a suit, while a music label or a media company you might dress like a rapper.

Some might even have a quiet but strict code that require black dress shoes for men, such as law firms and some departments like m&a in investment banks in London, while traders might be rocking sneakers in 2025. While that same firm or bank in NY people will rock brown dress shoes, which is seen as holiday gear or farmer behavior in London the old “no brown in town”

So it’s very weird to label shyt as “I work in an office”, or “corporate America”. It’s like saying “in restaurants in America” which might refer to 3 Michelin stars or the Chinese/Jamaican spot with no seats.

When I was working in an office, I never saw anyone "police" a dress code policy. I mean somebody would have had to actually complain about what someone else was wearing for HR to even get involved. I've seen white folks in a similar get up with sneakers.
might not be a real dress code there

i dress down where im at now but some of my previous jobs, even if they paid *way less*, were suit & tie monday - thursday with button downs considered to be pushing it on fridays.... its where you're at. and its almost never a surprise either.
