line for line, beat for beat? would it be fair to compare midnight marauders to only built 4 cuban linx? could you say that midnight marauders was better than only built 4 cuban linx? i'm just askin, just wonderin'

I prefer Linx. Both are in my top 10 all-time albums, but I never liked "Steve Biko" or "Sucka nikka".
Come to think about it, Linx is visibly better to me than Marauders. But it depends on personality. A huge part of why I like hip hop is bravado (in beats, voice, flow, rhymes), and there's way more bravado on Linx. 
But if you're more of a laidback cat, Marauders is probably better.

yeah, i agree. i think it really could go either or. thinkin' about it, i was like, "it sounds blasphemous" but then i was like, "well, it ain't like midnight marauders ain't a great/classic itself"
but i think you're right, it definitely depends on the personality

No. Tribe was a bit old at the point of MM and Wu was scorching hot with 36 Chambers. By the time Cuban happened they were super sayain.
MM has aged very well. But real time they weren't cutting edge in 1993. Well oiled, yes. Cutting edge, no.

OBFCL is better in almost every aspect
Both albums have great production but OBFCL's production is slightly better.
Lyrically OBFCL is much much better.
ATCQ were made a great by their production, they were average lyricists

I like Cuban Linx better than Midnight Marauders, so I'm not one of the people who would say the latter is better, and I've also never cared for "Steve Biko" or "Sucka nikka," (my least favorite song on the album) though I know people do like the former. To each his own.

MM = Next lvl production, no hiphop album has come close imo, also the most expensive rap album made due to sample clearance, changed sample based production. 
OB4CL = Next lvl lyricism, verses on criminology, rainy dayz

Midnight Marauders is stellar but I think Cuban Linx is Hip Hop at its apex. Album has absolutely zero flaws.

It's basically hip hop's response to scarface. The ultimate getting money album. It also managed to achieve being a concept album without being pretentious which is fuccin hard

Knowledge God used the be my favorite song on the album by a landslude until i got older and started learning about beatmaking and realised just how off-kilterly brilliant the criminology beat was. Those drums

Spot rushers is the only song on cuban linx that aint 4.5/5 stars. Weird lil beat but rae gives a storytellin clinic in it. And it ends great " stsrted screamin like a bytch. Uuuuaahhh"
I'll take Spot Rusherz over half of Cuban Linx. To me, it's one of the best songs on the entire album.
