:wow:Here me out. Sure the original is simply:banderas:, but what if there was a remake with the Iraq War. Could it work in a modern day setting? Like the script is left untouched, but the actors changed along with the scenery of what it was like during that time. Would this get a pass with movie snobs such as Ace, or would it be another cash grab for Hollywood since remakes are the in thing nowadays:francis:. Yet, the thought of soldier being consumed with a mission versus a soldier being a cult leader a group like the Taliban would be interesting to create on the silver screen:ohhh:

:dwillhuh::ohhh::feedme:I just copped the Final Cut but enlighten me.

the use of shadows was done to cover up the fact that Brando was fat, Martin Sheen almost died from a heart attack, and filming the movie is said to have driven Coppola mad, and that's some of the stuff. There's a whole doc on the making of this film.

As for remaking it, I mean any war movie can utilize the same themes discussed in this one but like Ziggiy said, the bts craziness can't be duplicated, the level of acting more than likely won't be up to par, very few directors are and can reach the level FFC was at in the 70's, and in general, the Vietnam War seems to be a better backdrop for films than the Middle Eastern wars have been.

:wow:Sounds like I need to hit up that documentary. I knew the movie was too lit for it's own good.

Naw it wouldn't work. The Vietnam War was the perfect backdrop for the film. It couldn't be done with Iraq and Afghanistan.

:picard:Yeah I noticed this with movies like Jarhead and The Hurt Locker. Most of those Iraq war based movies have meathead acting and "kill the enemy" type of focus. It just would be interesting to see how a rogue soldier would get his Brando on in some deserted area in Afghanistan:jbhmm:. Like the scenery itself would be top notch especially during storms and nighttime wars. Like how would the trip work though when there's mostly land :patrice:? Dudes riding a hummer through different outposts and war torn towns :patrice:. The thing that made Vietnam War themed movies lit was the fact that it was a whole different dimension with the war. There's layers to the story that can be played from different aspects. That war along with WW2 are probably the best backdrops for war related movies. It just seems like Iraq just bush territory for a good movie (no pun:mjgrin:).

If a colonel went renegade in the Iraq era they'd just send a bunch of drones to bomb his little empire. The film would be over in 20 mins lol.

:mjlol:/thread

but to be fair, they could had napalmed Brando to death :ld:. Sheen basically had 3 people killed for a bullshyt mission that could had been resolved with choppers and guns:francis:

They wanted it done quietly. I'm not sure exactly how that would play out now, but there's been a few drone attacks that got hushed up in recent years.

No the backlash against Iraq was largely political while Vietnam it was the war and all the draftees. One of my favorites. The long version is a bunch of vignettes describing different aspects of the war. Too much of Iraq would be based on stateside bs

Remake Apocalypse Now? That's the most absurd shyt I ever heard. Remake The Godfather and Annie Hall while you're at it.
