Could an artist/group like City High thrive in 2013?

Remember City High?

Positive urban music with a real message without having to disguise it in subtlety.

They just out-right challenged negative ideas and stereotypes...even incorporated "The Next Episode" into the "What Would You Do?" song. Had a song praising the complexion of black women getting bumped out here.

Their album actually went gold (I didn't know), but I DO remember reading that the group had a LOT of drama. I think the Claudette Ortiz chick was dating one of the singer guys and ended up marrying the other one. One of them ended up on "Intervention" or something. :manny:

Anyway, do you think music like this get spins and thrive in today's music scene?

....and as not to commit any pic vios :scheme: :

...but do you think a group of their mold could be as successful nowadays or the appeal of ratchet fukkery just too strong now? R&B cats don't even disguise their intentions with romance anymore. Blackstreet wanted their girls to stay, Boyz II Men wanted to make love to you, and now Trey Songz is in the club for the bytches & the drinks while The Weeknd's running train on them. :ld:

...and Chief Keef could fukk our mamas. :sadbron:

I don't know but I liked the group even though they weren't the most talented. And I loved her.

:deadcena: :drunk:

My man got ethered in the worst way though.

Grammy-nominated group. Your single goes platinum. You're dating a bad chick with talent.

Then she breaks up with you and ends up dating the LAST person you'd want her to be with: the other guy in your group. :damn:

Got to hear her getting her back blown on overseas by your homeboy in their hotel room and then see him at soundcheck looking like :cenasabo: "Let's get this money, breh." :umad:

THEN your group breaks up and they get married the next year. :sadbron: :wow:

They were only mildly successful in 2001, so yea, I think they could be as successful today.

Claudette Ortiz is a bad bytch...she shoulda branched out into acting or something:noah:
