Don't think he would be able to get away with some of those lyrics.

he didn't "get away" with it back then either there were a lot of protests and people saying he was a homophobe and all that.

I honestly think it'd be different. I listen to it now and hear stuff like "hate fags? the answer's yes" and think about how quick they'd shut his shyt down now. GLAAD was on his ass back then but it wasn't a mainstream thing to be publicly pro-gay at that point.

on one hand i think it would be even more controversial but at the same time i dont think it would be able to have the same impact. we consume music much faster these days and the shock value of it all would probably wear thin a week after the album leaked, within a few months i think people would just dismiss em as a troll & ignore his trolling like they've done since relapse.

Gay movement tried to silence him back then. Their far stronger now. He'd be able to release if but the backlash would probly cost him grammys and being able to do a movie, etc etc

he's white,of course he would get away with it:childplease:...they would just shyt on the culture of hiphop ie nikkas for why he talking like that:pachaha:..you really think cac media would pass on they first shot at a credible white rapper:comeon:...he'd probably be more popular for being edgy in a non threatning way.

He released the second single for MMLP in October, while debuting his album in May. Nowdays we see 3 singles before an album drop.
Like dude said, we would have consumed it more quickly and then just written it off. MMLP lived on for a over a year, stirring shyt up. I think Stan as a single dropped in march 2001, 10 months after album release.

It was a wrap for homophobia in hip-hop when J Cole said "faq" - then kinda retracted it in the next line scared of the consequences.

He could say the crazy stuff sure but he wouldn't touch 4x platinum doing it. Which is the equivalent of going Diamond now.

Nah he would have had a ton of those lyrics changed for sure. It was a bit different then.

It reminds me of Eddie Murphy making a joke about not caring about gay people because they were gay with the entire theater laughing, that shyt wouldn't fly now either.

Those lyrics don't even make sense to come out now for a number of reasons. On top of that, there was a decent amount of shyt that was reactionary to his debut. Tyler the creator exists so there is still a niche for this type of rap.

He'd probably be more accepted considering there are more notable white rappers out nowadays. between bronson, miller, iggy, riff raff, and macklemore...if eminem came out now he might not even be noticed.
