I'm asking because I see this circulated a lot in social media a lot and when asked in some Black spaces it is assumed that Black men know what that means.

From my personal assessment I would assume things like not making light skinned/dark skinned, good/bad hair jokes, using certain slurs against black women is bad. I would also think physically standing up for a black woman is protecting Black women as well as doing right by your partners, mothers, aunts, and sisters.

Where it deviates though is that some humor can be promoting "rape culture" which I don't understand. I may be splitting hairs here but has anyone been explained this before?

In social secular ideological terms? It means black women are always right...at least in public.

In actual terms, it means protect the most vulnerable and valuable segment of the black collective, and this must be very assertive in action as it pertains to a abuse, trafficking, and neglect. Publicly/socially looking out for sis....while not taking away her voice to fight her own battles. At minimum don't let "nonblack people" corner our women online/real life. Don't let black folk that center on BW failings to platform that shyt for nonblack daps etc.

Same with Protect the BM. You know it when you see it. We see the toxic shyt more tho...

Makes sense! I think sometimes they think posting a fukking meme will actually DO something. I do engage in my community self protection for black women so I'm hoping that pops off more and I do my part.

I assume it’s supposed to be about having Black women’s back, being on code, and bettering ourselves to better our community.
It’s a good concept that’s been highjacked by selfish people that mean to divide and sow seeds of mistrust between Black men and women.
We need to protect each other because we’re all we got in this world.
