How? All Giannis is doing is trying to get to the rim and finish, he's not doing that with Mutombo down there. They'd force him to shoot jumpers and good luck with that.
Mutombo was already past his prime at that point though. Vince averaged 30 ppg and Davis (the Raptors starting C) averaged 17 ppg when they faced them. Shaq numbers in the finals were better than in any series in the Western Conference playoffs. So there's big possibility that Giannis would do his thing.

why not?

1st of all you had bunch of expansion teams in the league in 96 . 2nd, Teams were so desperate for young big men that Shawn Bradley, Bryant Reeves, & Eric Montros were lottery picks. Erick Dampier & Raef LaFrentz were getting big contracts. 40 year old Robert Parish was playing 27 minutes a game.

If Theo Ratliff was good enough for a max, this 24 year old kid would've got one too

shyt being a Nigerian center alone would got him a starting spot in 96. word to Yinka Dare

I told these old flabby fukks that the center position in the 90's was top heavy, today the position is deeper and you have more player archetypes.

The thought that Mutombo would be an elite offensive center is comical but that's how these stupid old nikkas think :mjlol:

The NBA peaked in terms of talent from 1989-2004.

Before 1989 the league was mostly weak. Same has been true since 2004.

From 1989-2004, a majority of the greatest players in NBA history played.

Jordan
Kobe
Hakeem
Shaq
Pippen
Robinson
McGrady
Garnett

That's 8 of my top 10 players in NBA history and they were from that era.

Easily the most stacked and best era in NBA history.

Don't forget magic and Isiah they was relevant in 89-90 when Jordan had zero rings.

Amd How you skip AI, Vince carter & Duncan (he took over as a rookie in da damn playoffs...made everyone else on the spurs willingly defer to him, lol)?
