The only solution for the Balkans is entering all together into EU (if it survives this corona mess) and deleting the borders. The ending of a trade war is a good and necessary step for the future of the region even if it is the Trump administration that has to calm the waters.

the Balkans never cease to stifle my hopes for humanity. those nikkas are almost identical and not only do they not get along, but they also can't stop genociding each other. what hopes do the rest of us have.

I'm with Trump on this one why does the US need to be there in the first place. This is EUs problem let them deal with it. I find it downright stupid that the EU has mistreated the Balkans since the fall of communism by not accepting them. The Balkans are a direct access to local cheap labor for the EU. All they have to do is set restrictions on giving them citizenship/asylum and prevent them from accessing social services.

It's not contradictory being part of the EU would have elevated these countries economically. But looking at EUs perspective they thought that if they open up their borders it would destroy their social services. However this already happened or is in the process of happening. The EU has a huge problem with refugees all over the world now not just the Balkans! It's gotten to a point where there might not be any incentive anymore of even joining. Some of these countries are turning to Russia, Turkey and China.
