Lets say you knew someone who knew someone who had access to hundreds of acres of land and was looking to build an off grid commune comprised of like minded individuals looking to go their own way and be away from the chaos in mainstream society.
Life on the commune would be hard yet fulfilling. Each person would have assigned duties that benefit the commune as a whole.
Could you do it?

I dont believe this kinda set up can ever be sustained long term

It depends on a lot of factors. The commune ideally would only allow so many people. Water and food would have to be rationed appropriately.

That’s why I’m not sure if I could do it. Yes, being off grid and self sufficient are perks but the potential danger lies in the community being self reliant

I would give it a whirl, but I would have an exit plan just in case. This lifestyle appeals to me, sometimes I just want to experience a simple life.

No thanks. Might end up with some David koresh totalitarian type dude running it and you end up staying so long that you'd have to start all over again in normal society if you leave.
