I'm talking power darts, pure quotable bars and dope poetic lyrics. So we know hiphop tends to have that on lock but I got 3 singer song writers here that could be real dope MC's. If this doesn't flop and you want to add a name or list three. Please add a bar they have to show why you picked them. (hoping this leads to some dope new songs discovered and female singer song writers are included too).

1. Bruce Springsteen

I walked the avenue, 'til my legs felt like stone I heard the voices of friends vanished and gone :bryan:

2. Paul Simon

"And she said, "Losing love is like a window in your heart Everybody sees you're blown apart Everybody sees the wind blow" :wow:

3. Van Morrison

I can hear her heart beat from a thousand miles And the heavens open every time she smiles :banderas:

Sly Stone

Curtis Mayfield

Stevie Wonder

Stevie Wonder for sure. The song "As" every other words is just a top lyric. I am yet to be put onto Curtis Mayfield and I knoew a few Sly Stone records due to 'Arrested Development' using the songs.

Prince comes to mind immediately.

Oh yeah for sure.

The record 'Raspberry Beret' So many powerful lyrics I like, I always liked this.

She had the nerve to ask me If I planned to do her any harm So, look here I put her on the back of my bike And-a we went riding Down by old man Johnson's farm

If I can add just a few more :

Bob Marley :

We'll be together
With a roof right over our heads
We'll share the shelter
Of my single bed

Elvis Presley :

He buys a gun, steals a car
Tries to run, but he don't get far
And his mama cries

Norah Jones:

Fragile as a leaf in autumn
Just fallin' to the ground
Without a sound

Concept of this thread is dope

I’ll be back. Good shyt OP

Thank you Bro. This will be my last input I hope to see some dope lyrics that will lead me to discover new great tracks.

I chose to put a few women only great lyricist, so here are some bars :

Janis Joplin:

Busted flat in Baton Rouge, waitin' for a train

When I was feelin' near as faded as my jeans

Joni Mitchell:

But it don't snow here
It stays pretty green
I'm going to make a lot of money
Then I'm going to quit this crazy scene

Tracy Chapman:

But somebody's gonna have to answer
Time is coming soon
Amidst all these questions and contradictions
There're some who seek the truth

Y’all said some I would’ve said.. I’m going to say the writers from Fleetwood Mac.
Stevie Nicks
Lindsay Buckingham
Christie Mcvie

Man I will come back to add examples later but they wrote the best breakup songs lol. I guess because they were all fukking each other :russ: This one is simple but so pertinent

Go on, save yourself
Leave the key here
You love someone else
I shouldn't be here
:wow:

and later in the same song

What you did not need
Was a woman who was stronger
You needed someone
To depend on you
I could not be her
I did not want to
My first mistake
Was to smile at you

Smile at you

Got damn :wow:

I love this thread idea btw.

That's fire I think you might have put me onto this Fleetwood Mac secret before. I do remember someone informing about how Stevie Nicks and them were all messing with each other taking shots at each other on record lol. Like The Beatles started to do towards the end.

I am glad you said Fleetwood Mac. If I am not careful especially when I was locked up( a sh1t job outside your city for a set time not jail lol) for a bit I can not listen to Fleetwood Mac - Dreams. The whole song is too haunting the crispy vocals and depth of lyrics to paint such a bleek type of existence. The bar about :

But listen carefully
To the sound of your loneliness
Like a heartbeat drives you mad
In the stillness of remembering what you had ... :ohlawd:

For the Coli the bars at 00.40sec.

Who ever wrote this knew what they were doing. If it is sorrow you are after, sorrow was well received lol.

I didn’t “get” his music as a child when my moms would play his records, I just liked being silly and dancing to his records but as a grown man :wow: this muthafukka James was spittin !!! shyt was damn near bars. Especially this record

I can do wheelin', I can do dealin'
(Yes we can)

But I don't do no damn squealin'
I can dig rappin', I'm ready! I can dig scrapping
But I can't dig that backstabbin'
(Oh no)

With that instrumental rockin :wow:

Yeah this was nice. I have heard a lot of other James Brown records and because of his unique delivery you forget to listen deep to the words.

Props.
