Dallas Cowboys fan loses bet, son to be named after Washington Redskins' Robert Griffin III - ESPN Dallas
The Washington Redskins' fan base is about to grow by one, and the Dallas Cowboys have only themselves to blame.
Marissa Pena, a 31-year-old lifelong Cowboys fan, lost a Thanksgiving Day bet to her boyfriend, Emanuel Vega, who is -- you guessed it -- a lifelong Redskins fan. The stakes: the name of their unborn son.
As a result of the Redskins' 38-31 victory, the couple will welcome Robert Griffin Vega -- yes, RGV -- into the world next month. The due date for their first child is April 16.
"I thought that was cool, our first official relationship game on Thanksgiving of all days," Vega told The Washington Post. "She thought it was cool too, so we needed some kind of bet. She said the loser would wear the jersey of the other team on the last game of the season at a Redskins bar. That would be horrible for me. That would be horrible."
So instead they agreed to let the winner pick the baby's name.
