Nikkas at the job always watching your paper; especially when your single and those motherfukkers have kids. It's really envy. I remember when I came to work in a rental because my serpentine belt came off, I took it to the dealer because it's a new car and still under warranty. So as soon as I pull up and walk inside, my short mexican coworker said 'what happened to your car,' I was like it's in the shop, I'll have it back tomorrow. Dude started laughing like 'ha ha ha,' I was like the fukk. So the next day I had my car and I said 'see I told you it's right there,' he did not say shyt. Later on I found out he used to have a srt charger; but he got his girl pregnant and his girl forced him to sell his car and now he drives a dusty ass hyundai lol.

When you in the Union you know how much everyone is making so these type issues rarely come up.

I remember at my old job pulling up in the new 335BMW and coworkers hating on the low, couple weeks later someone stole my direct deposit stub and opened it to see how much I make. I felt violated for real.

I left shortly after and now make double what I did there after OT

Though I don't work in my field, all my coworkers know i have a finance background and tend to save.

My coworkers are cool for the most part but do joke about me sitting on stacks. I wish that was the case but no offense taken.

It usually means your being noticed by some higher ups and they are feeling impotent about it. DO NOT ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS. These people Re gathering Intel to use against you later. Keep personal details about your life outta of conversation.
On the other hand use those conversations to flip the script and get details about them. It's a good way to tell if people are just noisy or they are plotting.

Example.

Them: How much you gross this year?

You: I'm doing okay. How about you? Your hourly rate? You don't have to give me exact just a range.

If the person starts claming up when you ask that, they're gathering Intel. Make note and don't discuss anything personal. The fact that this guy is now working OT also shows he's feeling impotent about your situation.


Rising in coporate life requires you know Machiavellian tactics. Anyone who says it doesn't is ignorant or is trying to misdirect you because it does.

I'm union too, and we all make the same, except for the amount of OT you do (which is 99% working weekends).

That's the way it is at my job. 3 years ago they didn't even offer OT. If you wanted to make extra money you had to work the weekend. So I would work every weekend. Plus if you worked 4pm-12am or 12am-8am you got evening/night differential. Before I just tried to work every weekend at 4pm-12am. Then I would trade people to work the weekend. Mostly the white people because they wanted to have their weekends free. Then 2 years ago, they started letting us work OT. It was only a few of us that was taking it and it was fine by us because it meant more for us. Some people was saying the same thing, "why you guys work OT so much"? I didn't even pay them any attention as long as I was getting mine. Then slowly but surely a couple more people started working it. Then they came back telling everyone, "wow my check really looked good working that off day". Now people that never took OT was starting to work it.
The only thing that got me upset was that the same people that was talking about you working OT is now starting to take it and then come around asking you, "hey you on OT today"? Don't worry about me, take care of yourself. So I understand people trying to watch your pockets. We all make the same amount so it's pointless to try to hide what you make. All they got to do is know what off days and hours you worked which everyone can see and add it up and there you go. The thing is they don't know what bills you got, so you show up with a new car then they go to wondering, "I can't afford a car like that, I got too many bills". Or just new toys here and there in the office. It's a trip really so that's why I don't even discuss money with my co-workers.

On god I was thinking about this weekend. I got a job where most of the people I work with got like 2-3 kids. Im only 24 no kids no wife no main chick living with my mother. I imagine Ima pull in almost 60k this year. Ima about to get a new car too most likely a maxima.

Bruh I dont pay any type of rent

I don't spend that much money on clothes. I also will have whatever car I choose to be paid off within a couple of months if not paid in cash on the spot.
