In light of the Armstrong thread, this went overlooked, at least on this board, I've been up on Petties since 2008, but only in a sense of he was connected to La Barbie and the Beltran-Leyvas, and that he was the half brother of DJ Paul, but I spent a day or so reading all these articles from the above newspaper...fascinating, although very typical drug empire, cooperators, murders, feuds, ripoffs, duct tape and torture...The judge gave him nine life terms, plus 165 years, he was living in Mexico, just like the upper level Beltran Leyvas lieutenants, luxury houses, and all the amenities a kingpin enjoys....Also, a cooperator on previous and likely upcoming criminal cases, I wouldn't be surprised if when they extradite barbie, Petties would potentially testify, or use that fact on Barbie to get him to plead. I think Petties was the BMF source, a lot of people argue that, but that's just what I think based on everything I've read.

He did cooperate though, not everyone who does is a p*ssy, but the stakes get so high in that world, and things get so blurry so fast, he should have made better choices in a lot of ways...but they compelled his initial cooperation by subtly hinting his family, two children born in Mexico, would be left there, if he didn't cooperate. That doesn't make it acceptable....and right/wrong is even less clear in that world then in the 'real' world...whats amazing to me was that he did all this in his early-mid twenties...There was another article about 'Super Dave' Warner and his time on the run with Petties, and how he saw Petties had 'changed', these two Memphis gangsters, in Acapulco with a cartel legend, dudes who grew up slangin rocks on the concrete to fiends....

Super Dave Warner seemed like kind of a bytch to me, Petties hid him in Mexico, basically saved him from the feds, and introduced him to that world, and he testifies that Petties was a ruthless killer, who 'changed' while in Mexico? That man saved you, and put himself on the line by standing up for you, and you cooperate against him....Petties cooperated to save/ensure safety for his family, and save himself from the death penalty, and probably a more comfortable existence in the system. I don't have an issue with the death penalty, I have an issue with how long is fukking takes...kill me, but don't make me wait 10 years, do it next year or something.

Barbie hasn't been extradited, but he may be, theres a federal indictment charging him with moving over 1,000 kilos in the Atlanta/Memphis area, from the same years he was working with Petties in Acapulco, sending loads up north. Petties at that point was pretty much a cartel connect in his own right....Apparently, Barbie wants to come over, and was interested in cooeprating with the DEA, but his info his out of date by now, and may not buy him much, as his bosses and rivals are all displaced or gone, besides Hector Beltran Leyva...
