Crazy how we went from "The Great Resignation" to the era of Mass Layoffs

I remember during Covid so many people on Tik Tok, Twitter, Instagram, etc bragging and so joyful to quit their job, and to "F the system". I was sitting there looking like :francis: :mjlol:

Now the tables have completely flipped. Its an Employer's market

- Putting people through 5 to 6 interviews only to never even hiring them
- Lay offs to cut costs
- Firing for any reason for people acting up on Social Media
- Firing for sexual antics online while in uniform
- Forcing work from home workers to now go to the office
- Employers lying on Job Descriptions that positions are remote even though they really aren't

It really went from "F*ck these jobs" to "Damn, its really hard to get hired right now".

This was always going to be the case. That period during covid allowed alot of people upward mobility and transitioning away from the service sector........and that's really the shyt that they didn't like.......nobody willing to put up with that customer service bullshyt jobs anymore

This is why I kept my head down and grinded during the pandemic. I came out of it better off than when we went into the pandemic.. I had no choice because I couldn’t afford to live on what I was making. Now I’m making more, I get to travel more, I cover a lot of sports, etc. People were trippin big time with all this shyt during the pandemic … then these folk put Trump and them back in. The same people that were hating seeing you work from home and quit jobs to try and get paid off TikTok… now they’re trying to make your life a living hell.

Was it really sustainable though?

- Inflated housing prices for home sellers
- Record low interest/mortage rates that were never going to last
- Employers instilling work from home jobs that was a response to government mandates, which was already planned to be temporary

Only gonna get worse over the next 5-10 years.

AI is coming for a lot of white collar entry jobs. Those new college grads about to be really feeling the job market stress
Seems inevitable at this point. :francis:

Writing been on wall since lets say 2015 and like they are just slowly dogwalking to that path.

Anyone with common sense knew Covid wasn't going to last forever and that point in history was the only reset point for social mobility, self-reflection, and career pivoting.

We were never going to never be in utopia where everyone would be paid a living wage just to chill and vape all day and bang 10s from IG while getting Door Dash...

Completely unrealistic and now the pendulum is swinging the other way...

I actually think it may be better. Yeah some of the entry level jobs may disappear but others will emerge.

College kids will figure it out as they have already been doing for decades. If the entry level jobs dissapear, the middle and upper ones may as well disappear too since nobody but AI will have entry level experience.

There Is no future living in the past and AI is an extension of the vast internet and collection of data and the deployment of models. I’m always going to place my chips on humanity.

The writing was on the wall when they got to sit at home all day because their job isn't 'essential'. Now those non essential jobs are being replaced by AI.
