He did what he felt was right for his personal life. I can't knock him for that. Dude was young at the time, no real name in music. Most people would go with the bigger check and guaranteed deal.
Who's to say that Dre would've actually signed him? Now if he would've, that would definitely have resulted in some dope music. It's all just speculation at this point. Who knows? But the idea of him havin' that album with Dre overseeing it, is just dope.

Choice between tha row or aftermath aka tha shelf?
Hindsight is 20/20 but I probably would've took my chances with aftermath. At that point Death Row was a building on fire. Everyone was running away from it and crooked was running into it. The company under investigation, biggest star killed in a drive by, second biggest star jumping ship, one owner walking away from the million dollar company leaving with nothing, the other owner locked up, the stories of recklessness in the offices. There was multiple red flags.
But then again he could've signed to aftermath and been MIA like everyone without an established name. Joell Ortiz is the only non established rapper they had who didn't fall off the face of the earth after they dropped him. Between em,50, and them overpriced headphones making him all his money. dre don't care about aftermath.

At least his name would have been out there. And even if he wouldnt have released an album some major would have scooped him up with the quickness. Once he linked with Death Row is career was destined never to pop.

I would of signed with death row too, did you not hear what crook said, dre was working on other things, tbh if i was hungry i wouldn't wait for dre knowing what i know.
