NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
I understand what he’s saying. But it’s also spoken like a nikka who didn’t have his life change because of the money/opportunities hip hop brought him. We have actors, actresses, billionaire businessmen etc etc that came off the back of hip hop. I would say the internet ruined shyt far worse than anything else. The internet has ruined everything honestly.

I'd say what ruined hip-hop is pretty clearly the erosion of standards.

Like we should never have embraced anybody who was objectively wack. Even when Hammer and Vanilla Ice were doing numbers the community made it clear that that shyt was over there and wasn't real hip-hop.

Now you can't say that shyt without repercussions.

Once artists got signed It's been downhill from there. Started letting anybody in hip-hop that didn't respect the art form. Fans started caring about numbers and hit records. Speaking like the machine that only care about dollars.

Facts

He's on point tho, I been screaming this same shh!t he's saying for idk how long. I agree with you tho about the culprit, the onus is on the internet/social media, not necessarily Rap's popularity. The net opened the floodgates for the talentless, the dorks, the credential-less, the dumb, etc... to have platforms and voices and influence, across the board, ruined everything lowkey

I knew when we started acting like awful awful shh!t was fire just on some trolling goofy shh!t...and then that shh!t actually becoming lit and bringing in money and success for those awful awful on the spectrum-ass rappers/whatever that this shh!t was spiraling out of control.

Imo, like the lil b shyt...and cormega and others saying they respect what he's doing...dude was obviously trolling and shyt...not mad at his success..

People were afraid of the backlash ice t got for calling Soulja boy wack.

I definitely agree, it got loose with the standards.

But even back then, I was slowly falling out of love with it. I am hip hop, will always be.

Even without wanting commercial success per se, it was really offensive as a creative.

There was always way more balance.

The Internet...I have a few varying opinions..
