I wouldn’t be shocked OP. The cavaliers currently have the worst defense in league history. You can’t expect big things from a team that’s old, lacking in perimeter defenders and rim protectors, and can’t play defense no matter who their best player is.

Doesn’t matter how motivated he is if the rest of the team is left as is. That roster isn’t constructed to win a title and may not even reach the finals. There’s holes all over the place and it’s an old roster too, so these issues aren’t going away. They’re old, tired, bad defensively, lacking in big men and wing defenders, and lacking in athleticism too. Compounding their issues is that they don’t seem to have any assets they can move to improve the team short term enough to realistically compete with the warriors.

If he’s the same as last year they’ll be good on offense, but that wasn’t their problem even last year. Their defense was terrible last season and just as detrimental to their title hopes as their nonexistent bench was, and now they’ve slipped even further defensively. IT does nothing to help on that end of the floor. The time and way for them to fix things was to try getting a shot blocker or wing defender during the summer.

Boston is better equipped to beat GS compared to Cleveland. Boston and Detroit will give the warriors problems because they are defensive minded, slow paced teams. The exact counter to a uptempo Warriors team. The Cavs don't possess the play style to counter the Warriors. They messed up when they spent money and time on outscoring the Warriors. You don't beat someone at their own game. The Cavs might make it to the finals but they would get swept. I much rather someone else make it.
