:what:

Draymond scored 6 pts last game

when GSW beat OKC in OT Draymond scored 1 point.

but fukk all that

  • Before Rodman, we should have expected a rebounder of that quality to appear about once every 400 years.
  • Rodman showed no trade-off between offensive and defensive rebounding rates
  • Contrary to popular opinion, Rodman was a much better rebounder than Wilt Chamberlain or Bill Russell, and it’s not close
  • Rodman was an even better rebounder than we would expect the best rebounder in the Hall of Fame to be
  • Rodman has the highest Margin of Victory differential of any player since 1986 with a remotely similar sample size
  • Rodman’s value comes mostly from extra possessions from extra rebounds
  • Despite claims that he was exclusively a defensive player, Rodman’s teams played significantly better on offense with him in the lineup, even after accounting for his offense rebounding
  • Specifically, his Win% differential is #1 of the 470 players who qualified for the study—by a wide margin
  • Depending on which metric you favor, Rodman’s differentials place between the 98th percentile and the 99.98th percentile among full-time players (approximately 5% make the Hall of Fame)

:what:
I'm aware how good a rebounder he was. That doesn't change the fact that in todays's nba he couldn't be the player he was since teams wouldn't have to guard him since zones are allowed, and that would hurt the offense whenever he would be on the floor

if they left Rodman open in the paint he would be putting up numbers though

Rodman's lack of points is not because he couldnt score

its because his philosophy was Rebounds over everything. He'd rather let someone else score. He was a true competitor who wanted to win over all else

That doesn't mean he had any offense to go to. He had hustle points like :noah: would get. If he had any real offensive game to speak of then he would have averaged more than I think 7.3 points per game

but the difference between Noah and Rodman is Rodman is the greatest rebounder in NBA history.

Does that not count for anything? Points aren't everything.

The thing about basketball is you can almost always tell who is going to win the game based on which team has more possessions. This why you'll never find a coach on any level who doesn't emphasize defense, rebounding, and taking care of the ball before scoring.
