Glad you told us!

I work for CVS, you're wrong. I've worked for a store that sells cigarettes, and now work for one that doesn't. To say that CVS is sacrificing "very little money" by refusing to sell cigarettes is an idiotic statement.

They are going to take a loss on this, but hopefully the good press will even that out. I always found it hypocritical for a company that prides itself on healthy living to sell cigarettes.

It's a great decision, and first time I'm proud of my company.
:ohhh: you're going to keep us updated on how the transition occurs and any major developments right :lupe:

If they're "pro-health" what about the junk food/drinks they sell? Will we see those removed as well? :mjpls:

You work at CVS bruh no offense but you don't understand a balance sheet or income statement. They aren't losing out on $2 bill in profits. That other poster is right, its a much much smaller figure. Margins on cigarettes are minimal compared to the other products CVS carries. The only real hit they will take is all of the additional items people buy while they are waiting in line to get their ciggs like Kritic said.

A quick Google told me profit margins are 6% on cigarettes so $2 billion in sales means they will lose $120 million in profits.

:ooh:

my store is losing 100,000 dollars per year due to no longer selling cigarettes. you do the math.

if it's such a minor deal, why aren't other companies doing it?

either way, they're giving up easy money to help to provide better health. they deserve some props.

heres the real deal CVS isnt making much money selling tobbaco, Taxes, licenses, sales. So its a bigger PR to say theyre not selling for health reasons. If they were sincerly genuine they would stop Alcohol sales, buit that would never happen.

LOL, what a great move by a pharmacy. Now, when are they going to start selling Weed? Because it will be legal in about 15 years nationally...lol
