Bryan's love for wrestling runs deep

In doing an interview with The Recorder to hype up Summerslam, Bryan throws up red flag after red flag at the state of his brain damage and mental state. Some choice quotes:

“I don't necessarily agree that there's something wrong with me, right. The whole issue with concussions is so subjective.

:dwillhuh: This is a guy who had so many concussions he has lesions on his brain that were causing him to have seizures. "Subjective".

“When I told them that I was taking this test in New York City, they said, 'OK, well let us know the result.' Well, the test hasn't been peer reviewed, and I'm not saying it's a bad test, all I'm saying is this is not something that they're using the standard medical facilities,” Bryan added, his skepticism evident even today.

:shaq2:

“Realistically, my style isn't what put me out, I ended up taking a really hard hit to the head. It had nothing to do with my style.

A style he fails to mentioned involved him headbutting people full force and is what gave him his last concussion that ended his career. But on the topic of his style:

“When I came back from my neck surgery -- and I have this really bad habit, it's like I'm a glutton for punishment -- I was like, 'OK, I'm going to see how strong my neck is and to see if it can still take some of this stuff.' ”

“What I really wanted was I wanted a match with Brock Lesnar, that was my thing,” Bryan revealed. “But I didn't want to go into the match with Brock Lesnar (having) that be the first time I ever take a German suplex (following) my neck surgery. So, I wrestled Luke Harper and he German suplexed me on my head and everybody was like, 'Oh my gosh, why did you do that?!' ”

Simple, Bryan said. It’s his style.

:wtf::wtf::wtf:

This guy has the same mentality and attitude that crippled Dynamite and killed Eddie/Benoit. And reading this, it is clear to me that he's going to wrestle again one day, and he's going to end up just like them. He's still not convinced there is anything wrong with him....AFTER HAVING SEIZURE CAUSING LESIONS ON HIS BRAIN FROM TRAUMA. If I'm WWE, I'm seriously thinking about removing him from any and all programs and disassociating with him. Seriously. He also talks about his bad anxiety, having a severe mental breakdown, and how he had to go hide in the woods for months.

If he said he wasn't his style, it wasn't his style. This all started after that match with Blandy that Cripple H stopped over the "stinger". Just one bad bump really and you all quick to write him off into Benoit territory:laugh:

He also said he should have changed his style when he came back from the neck problem, but instead was out there doing diving headbutts and intentionally taking direct neck bumps because he's "a glutton for punishment". And isn't sure there is really anything wrong with him despite 2 dozen concussions. "If he said it, then it's true" doesn't hold water with a dude with legit brain damage who won't admit full that there is anything wrong with him even after going out on TV and saying he had brain damage.

It was his style that made him add rapid fire headbutts that busted someone open the first time he did it, then ended his career the next time he did it.

I told yall this like three years ago

Glsd hes in a suitable position in the company givrn the fact his body became so fragile and worn out from overkill with the spamming of dropkicks (always landed awkwardly), headbutts, and spamming of planchas

If he would change his wrestling style if he were to return to action: “My wife would like me to! She’d like me to take fewer risks. But here’s the problem with that – I’m the underdog. I’m not six feet tall; I’m five foot eight and one hundred eighty five pounds, so I am going to get thrown around. I’ve been trying to come up with some ideas and stuff, but that’s the style of wrestling I enjoy doing. I like flying around but yeah, I’m going to have to do some things to limit the injuries I think.”

B/R: A change was coming, regardless of physical limitations?

Bryan: My style was going to change anyway. But it's true, I'll be asking myself, "Do I need to do the top-rope dropkick and all that stuff every night?" (Laughs). Probably not. It's hard, though, because I think that's exciting.

But there are other exciting things I could do that won't put as much pressure on my neck. I've been doing exercises to strengthen my neck, but I won't really know how it's going to feel until I get in there and do it.

Cool. Well it's a done deal now anyway.....and wrestling is worst off for it.

Did you even click the link, breh?

"A lot of people have said, 'Oh, you need to change your style, you need to change your style, you need to change your style,' ” he said. “And that is very true. Steve Austin had this great conversation with me, it was during the time when I was still trying to cleared from my concussion stuff.”

Austin was preaching the same thing to Bryan, suggesting maybe he alter his style, something Austin himself had to do following a career-threatening neck injury of his own in his prime. But Bryan’s style, which involved a lot of high-flying maneouvres, hard hitting and kicks, was what got him to the big dance in the first place, he said.

“I wouldn't have gotten to where I was if I didn't have that style,” Bryan said, conceding that there “probably was a point where I could have changed it sooner, like when I came back from my neck surgery.”

While there's no doubt he has had concussions, I just don't buy the fact that Daniel Bryan has brain trauma to the point that he should never wrestle again.

I'm not saying there's a conspiracy against him, I'm just saying it's partially society being more cautious then ever before.

If Daniel Bryan wants to wrestle, he should wrestle. He's not a drooling idiot. He's aware of the risks and is a grown man. There's no guarantee that'll he continue to injure himself permanently. It's his greatest passion in life. I'll never fault someone for following their passion.

If you don't think there are guys worse off than him currently wrestling you're delusional. Also if that test he took which effectively ended his career was so viable then it would be used by every football player in the country. If 9 out of 10 doctors say he's fine, what makes the 10th the final word?

You can't really believe that WWE, known for its horrible track record with their "independent contractors", is really doing this to protect him. They're avoiding controversy at any cost with Bryan because he is so beloved.

When it boils down to it, I'm always going to side with the individual.
