One of the biggest hits of one of the best years in rap history, 94. Nobody talks about da brats impact on that year. Platinum single when that was a big fukkin deal.

This song was better IMO...dope as fukk, classic video, another hit

I cannot think of many other artists that have dropped as hot as that...that's like snoop, bone, luda, juvenile maybe...level of debut heat

Both of those were dope. I am more a fan of the "Give It 2 U" remix especially the extended version.

I also don't understand why Da Brat's impact is so understated specifically her debut. I think the second album was better because she came into her own on that one. She pretty much she'd the whole "female Snoop" with that one and came with a more aggressive, rapid fire delivery.

redman, what?

Redman was influenced by Dr. Dre, Snoop and Ice cube (he's always said that), but he wasn't biting Dre and Snoop or Cube

and, EPMD already had the Funk incorporated in their sound, so him linking up with Erick and Parrish and having music that was based around a lot of Parliament Funkadelic samples wasn't a stretch at all

Da Brat was biting Snoop hard on those first few singles and album; from the way she was rhyming, her voice at times, the flow, even trying to spit like Snoop
