Yea.. You can't be near 40 with all that weight on you. Can't be good for your health. Plus, you'd have to eat a lot to maintain a 350lb physique. I doubt losing weight is all that hard.

I had a teammate eating 10 MAJOR meals a deal to stay at 3 bills throughout college. Once he was done he lost 30 pounds just from not having to eat so much. He lost another 30 pounds over the next 12 months from regular workouts. Most NFL lineman ain't genetically built to hold all that weight so they lose it like crazy when they don't need it.

Yea, so many other athletes go the other way...they no longer run around as much as they did during their playing days but their caloric intake remains the same....leads to :flabbynsick:

I remember Real Sports did a feature on this.

Linemen either blow up or lose it all. Brad Culpepper played at 277, dropped down to like 180.

Yeah I don't think most people understand that O-Lineman are forced to be 300+ , these aren't just fat guys. They're athletes, its no surprise when they no longer need to be so heavy and strong that they cut a lot of weight.

Of course you also get the guys that are used to eating so much, but stop being active

As someone who played line for a lot of years, a lot of guys who play aren't naturally fat dudes, they were TE and Fullbacks who were put there for team purposes. They got to east crazy amounts of protein and shyt and bulk up in the weight room to keep that weight. It's kinda like Sumo Wrestlers, they build up the muscle and then they pack on the pounds. Once they stop playing their metabolism is still on overdrive so a lot of them shed weight very easily. Birk and Saturday probably didn't do anything too crazy to drop the weight.
