Actors don't see these things the way others do, they just think of it as a "challenging role", or a role that might get them plaudits and acclaim.
My dad's an actor, so there's all sorts of roles that he does. I've never seen my dad play a gay character or put on a dress though (only one flamboyant character, which is on youtube
). One role that he hates was the Steven Seagal movie with the yardies, he jumps out the window towards the middle of the movie. Every time Marked For Death comes on he hits the 
face.
