I'm just going to put it simply.
You can compare both Lead & Supporting actors (They were all sodomites with drug problems)
Dallas Buyers Club - Not once did it feel staged or overacted. Everything was realistic, even the selling meds out of a cheap motel. At times it didn't even feel like a movie, given a few edits and cuts, the film plays out as if these were real occurrences happening in front of you. The movie was as real as it gets. No montages (like in American Hustle or tWow)
Jared Leto's portrayal was the most heartwarming yet heartbreaking character I've ever seen. He took risks and even took a dive just to support Ron. Everyone in this film, even Gardner's character sacrificed themselves for the good and the support of each other.
In The Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle there was always that moment of "Well every man for themselves" and no type of compassion for one another..
Hell, I'll even go as far as to say I enjoy this movie more than 12 Years a Slave. I just felt like they should have given Chiwetel Ejiofor more lines, something more concrete. He needed more interaction with more people in that movie.
What do you guys think? This is just my opinion, I'm open to any of yours.
