Dallas cop sexually assaults woman repeatedly in his patrol car

Updated at 7:10 p.m. by Naheed Rajwani: An arrest warrant affidavit alleges Kattner sexually assaulted a woman three times, but it does not state whether she is a prostitute. [The Dallas Police Department said Kattner is accused of contacting "known female prostitutes."]

About 1:20 a.m., Kattner called the woman and told her to follow him to the 9700 block of Webb Chapel Road, the affidavit states.

It states that Kattner was wearing his Dallas Police Department uniform and driving a marked police car at the time of the attack.

He had her perform a sex act while one of his hands was on his duty weapon, the affidavit states.

Detectives in the area saw Kattner and the woman. They stopped the woman as she was leaving and interviewed her. She told the detectives Kattner had assaulted her twice before after showing her her outstanding warrants and telling her he knew where her daughter lives.

She said she believed Kattner’s statements were threats to her and her daughter’s safety if she didn’t comply with his demands, the affidavit states.

Kattner was in the Dallas County Jail as of this afternoon. Bond was set at $50,000. Jail records did not list an attorney.

Original post at 12:27 p.m.: A veteran Dallas police officer was arrested early Sunday on a charge of sexual assault after police say he used his position to compel sex acts.

David Kattner was arrested about 1:20 a.m. Sunday. Police say he’s accused of contacting female prostitutes and making them perform sex acts while he was working an extra job.

Kattner is a 26-year veteran of the Dallas Police Department and is assigned to the Northeast Patrol Division. He has been placed on administrative leave, pending an investigation, according to a police department news release.

Detectives are trying to determine if there are other victims. They have asked for the officer’s photo not to be released during the investigation.

Schoelen, Stecker, Nelson, and Kattner often dealt with people whom Lopez came to know as the usual suspects—mostly street people, prostitutes, and hustlers.
