Dame Dash Partners with FilmOn to Launch Online Network: Dame Dash TV

Hip-hop mogul Damon Dash's latest boss move: launching his own lifestyle TV network with streaming television provider FilmOn.

The millennial-friendly programming, produced and developed by Dash's Damon Dash Studios, will cater to budding entrepreneurs with series like Intelligent Boss Moves (starring Dash and Dr. Boyce Watkins providing a blueprint to running a business), Hip Hop Motivation (a talk show that will feature guests like rapper Cam'ron and boxer Andre Berto) as well as The Secret to Ballin' (a guide to getting rich and successful with insight from executives and artists like Snoop Dogg, Faith Evans and Chris Brown among others).

“What you’re watching now is the DNA of the millennial generation from my point of you,” said Dame in a release. “This synergy with FilmOn’s global platform is going to get our content out to an even broader audience. We’re getting bigger. And stay tuned for scripted content soon.”

Dash will also use the FOTV's 25/7 television channel to plug his Poppington clothing line, using an app that will allow viewers to purchase the pieces they see on his network. He will also debut the Dash and Kanye West-produced action flick Movie Mix Tape on the FilmOn platform.

The New York native is best known for co-founding Roc-a-Fella Records in the 1990s with Jay Z and Kareem "Biggs" Burke. He also stars in BET's Music Moguls.

FilmOn TV, founded by billionaire Alki David in 2007, has had a healthy relationship with hip-hop in the past, streaming Hot 97's annual summer music festival Summer Jam as well as concerts from Chief Keef, Bone Thug-N-Harmony, and Akon. FOTV will also be producing a hologram show on the life and music of Big Pun.

I hope this works out for him. I feel like Dame can be resurrected with just one good move. You see how 50 has been able to stay afloat with Power. Dame just needs one move like that to take off.

Maybe it's just me but putting your name upfront on every product/venture you're trying to do, especially when people don't really like you is kind of...counter productive.

I mean am I wrong? I'm not a business major or anything but that skit on Chappelle has sprung to life, this nikka is really going to have "Roc-a-pads" or "Dame Dash Douche" here in a second. Putting "Dash" on everything might attract initial supporters that know you from Rocafella fame but that doesn't bode well for longevity. But we all know "Food and Beverage" ain't Dame's steeze

I always thought Dame was a world class a$$hole who looked down on others and was generally just a world class prick.

But that BET show he did, Music Moguls, showed a (no homo) softer side to the guy. Huge passion, big heart, and I think he's genuinely emotionally scarred from all the people who he did business with that left him high and dry in the past.

So I hope this works out for the guy. As obnoxious as he often is, pop culture, hip hop, movies, whatever, is more interesting with him in it.
