Some people who grew up watching certain people play think you can Jenga piece your way to the finish line. They couldn’t fathom the idea that it’s in the cards for some and not for others. Everybody isn’t meant for what everybody wants

Why the fucck is Portland doing that? :dahell:
Sells tickets, sells more jerseys.... Dame is Mr. Blazer, I guess they feel they are righting a wrong. Not really logical in terms of on-court sync with what the Blazers are doing. They built a defensive stalwart team, bringing in a 36 year old Dame off a bad injury who was never a good defender and is going to be even worse now makes no sense. Everyone's gonna cover for him and best case scenario they're the 6-7th best team in the West two years from now.

Wonder what the ticket sales have been like since Dame left. Probably want to boost attendance knowing they aren't contenders anyway. The contract amount is stupid though

I don't even think he's gonna do business for the economy there like that.

1. He's hurt
2. He's washed
3. They're not gonna win shyt even if he is healthy

I'd rather try to just force make some youngins in that spot into stars instead :yeshrug:

Yeah it makes no sense. For argument's sake let's say Dame has a miraculous recovery and is 95% of what he was pre injury.

Are you just gonna try to win with an old Dame and spare parts? That's not working. You throwing Scoot to the bushes for a play in team?

Nothing you said would make a Portland fan not repurchase a Dame jersey though, they already weren't winning shyt when he was the man there and then people still loved him.

Y'all don't understand how white/vanilla/boring Portland is, they NEED someone to rally behind even if he's old and washed. Nobody on that team is ready to fill that void right now so keep Dame there to help groom them for that.

Doesn't have shyt to do with being a contender or playing winning basketball, that city ain't gonna attract any big names so they have to show love when someone willing wants to be there and hope they can groom another.

Same shyt with Milwaukee tbh, Giannis could leave next year and go ring chase for 2 years, I guarantee even if he was washed the Bucks would take him back in a heartbeat just to bring life back to the city, that's Dame in Portland.

they got a year to figure out how they probably want to integrate him and where they want to go with the roster. its not like anyone is expecting them to be a contender this year and adding dame next year will ruin their harmony. i think some are overstating the risk of giving dame essentially a 1 year contract with a player option. i think this was mentioned already but jerami grant and the 3 years 102 mil remaining on his contract are the biggest obstacle to portland breaking through and even with that contract theyre still in decent shape regards to the cap going into the 26-27 season when dame comes back so theyre not hindered in their ability to make moves after this season.

Are they doing brand new jersey colors or something? I'm sure most Portland fans still have their dame jerseys.......They don't have shyt else

Portland's like thanks Bucks for footing that bill for Dame, we'll take him back now at a lesser cost lmfao. Nah but good for Dame, shyt doesn't always work out like you planned. He's a legend in Portland, stamped.

Shoutout to Dame for this. fukk that ring chasing shyt. Go where you are loved and finish setting records. Be the Best Blazer ever. Period.

I wish Pierce wouldve did this in his finals years instead of playing with the Wizards and Clippers. Finish your career where they love you.

We're really giving Dame credit for not ring chasing when (a) he literally forced his way out of the team he's returning to to ring chase (b) he's a 35 year old 6 foot guard that plays zero d who is coming off an achilles...no serious contender are signing him even as a sixth man
