What's going on with these blood clots?
Microplastics. This kind of shyts going to become far more common.
Doc mentioned having never been swept in a playoff series. This year is definitely going to change that.

Prayers up for Dame though.
This guy is constantly engaged in some form of brand management. It's crazy. As soon as I saw this i knew it was him being defensive about losing those 3-1 leads. Man fukk outta here. I think losing a 3-1 series is more of negative mark than being swept.

Yup, a blood clot in the leg is considered more dangerous because it's more likely to travel to the lungs, causing a potentially life-threatening pulmonary embolism

Good question. I'm not sure if they're more common in NBA players now than in the past

But they may be more common in taller people

I wonder if there was mass produced “medication”everyone was forced to take could be the cause of all this :lupe:

Just wondering :mjpls:

Could be but...

A few NBA players have dealt with DVTs during their careers:

  1. Chris Bosh – The most well-known case, Bosh was diagnosed with DVT in 2015 and again in 2016. His condition forced him to retire prematurely after repeated clotting issues and the risks associated with playing while on blood thinners.
  2. Mirza Teletović – Diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs in 2015 while playing for the Brooklyn Nets. He was eventually cleared to return to play.
  3. Anderson Varejão – In 2013, Varejão developed a blood clot in his lung following surgery for a leg injury, ending his season.
  4. Jerome Kersey – A former NBA player who tragically passed away in 2015 due to complications from a blood clot.
  5. Brandon Ingram – In 2019, Ingram was diagnosed with DVT in his right arm, which ended his season early, but he was able to return the following year.
  6. DeAndre Jordan – In 2016, while playing for the Los Angeles Clippers, Jordan was diagnosed with a blood clot in his left leg, which sidelined him for several games.
  7. Kendall Marshall – The former NBA guard developed a blood clot in his right arm in 2017, leading to his retirement from professional basketball-chatGPT
Hakeem Olajuwon also had blood clot issues twice in his career

True. From chatGPT. Almost all pre COVID too:

@Don Snow

  1. Brock Boeser (2024) – The Vancouver Canucks forward missed Game 7 of the Western Conference Second Round due to a blood clot in his leg. He was later cleared to resume playing.
  2. Tomáš Fleischmann (2009) – After returning from the Czech Republic, Fleischmann developed a blood clot in his leg due to deep vein thrombosis from a cross-Atlantic flight, causing him to miss the start of the 2009–10 NHL season.
  3. Pascal Dupuis (2014–2015) – The Pittsburgh Penguins forward was diagnosed with a blood clot in his lung in November 2014. He was placed on blood thinners and missed the remainder of the season. In 2015, he attempted to return but had to retire due to recurring clotting issues.
  4. Kimmo Timonen (2014–2015) – In August 2014, Timonen was diagnosed with blood clots in both lungs and his right leg, ruling him out indefinitely. He returned to play in early 2015, was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks, and won a Stanley Cup before retiring.
  5. Tomas Vokoun (2013) – The veteran goaltender was diagnosed with a blood clot in his pelvis in September 2013. His left leg swelled significantly, requiring surgery to remove the clot. He missed the entire season and ultimately retired.
  6. Chris Kreider (2017) – The New York Rangers forward was diagnosed with a blood clot associated with thoracic outlet syndrome in December 2017, requiring rib surgery. He returned to play in 2018.
  7. Steven Stamkos (2016) – The Tampa Bay Lightning star was diagnosed with a blood clot in his shoulder in April 2016, related to thoracic outlet syndrome. He underwent surgery and returned for the 2016–17 season.
  8. Andrei Vasilevskiy (2014) – The Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender was diagnosed with a blood clot in his left leg in September 2014, which required surgery. He recovered and resumed playing that season.
This list highlights how DVT and other clotting disorders have affected NHL players over the years, sometimes forcing early retirement or requiring surgery for treatment.

I feared I had a clot in my leg near the end of last year. I had surgery on my ankle over a year ago but the swelling never fully went away. The last time I saw my surgeon she mentioned possible clotting. I ain't never been more nervous doing an ultrasound on my leg. Thankfully it wasn't a clot but that just thinking about what could happen is scary as fukk.
