Jay ain’t never letting Dames crazy ass back in.

Dame spazzing out on people got him eventually blackballed.

I’m pretty sure Jay would never bring that environment to Tidal.
Talking shyt about Lyor Cohn was the last straw
What else but Dash Radio? Unless he had a company called "Poppington Sound" :mindblown:
Too bad that there already is a Dash Radio

Proof is in the pudding.

Jay needs Dame like Dre needs Suge.

Both Suge and Dame were the a**holes nobody wanted to deal with but had to because of their talented partners. They were the drill sergeants who stayed on top of things, crossed t's, and dotted the i's, etc. Can't take that away from them. But they weren't the engine. They weren't the brains of their respective franchises.

We've seen what Dre and Jay have done since parting ways with their former partners. Both are close to billionaire status.

Suge and Dame are shells of their former selves, and constantly involved in f*ckery.

In business, people deal with a**holes all the time because their is an incentive....money. If their is no money to be made, people aren't going to deal with you. And they definitely won't look out for you if you are an a**hole and you aren't bringing much to the table but unnecessary drama.

I agree. Jay wants to be the CEO but not the entrepreneur. He does a bad job of pushing the brand.

Dame has that entrepreneurial grind. He got that battery and would push everyone to say tidal 100 times a day, Address bullshyt article trashing the business. Jay is not that dude. Too quiet and shy to impact people.

Jay seems like he just wants to be court side at NBA game. :francis:

The problem with Jay and business is that he is his own brand unto himself. Jay-Z is really the priority brand and he uses his other businesses to promote the Jay-Z brand when it really should be the other way around. Jay is not the better businessman but because his celeb power and influence in the industry, he naturally attracts bigger and better opportunities.

However, when it comes to Dame, he knows his status as a celebrity is dependent on his maneuvering the business plays. That's why he is Dame Dash today. He's good at branding and whoever is in charge of marketing and advertising needs to focus on branding Tidal. Right now they're just the other player in the streaming game. But, if they built their brand around a message, story, ideal. They can convert more people into long term listeners. Apple and Spotify are too much of a monolith to play that card, but Tidal can.

Dame and Suge aren't comparable IMO when it comes to business sense. While Dame was certainly aggressive when it came to his style of communication, it wasn't the same as using intimidation and threats to sustain dominance in the music biz. It's easy to just say Dame was a loud bully, but people forget all the talent he put on. Being an a$$hole as a communication mechanism in order to allow the labels to feel their manipulation and hypocrisy face to face was the reason Rocafella was successful. Who wouldn't be an a$$hole if every time you turned around, Def Jam, Lyhor, Kevin and Julie were constantly trying to find angles to involve themselves in your operations when it wasn't their place?

They tried to make Dame look unreasonable because he exploded constantly, but the truth is Def Jam was violating the business obligations between Rocafella and their artists, primarily Jay. It's the same people who think Dame is wrong for getting at Lee Daniels about owing him 2M's! IF the shoe was on the other foot, people can easily see the validity of the aggression, but because it's a heterosexual black male against a room full of "innocent" "meek" business people being shouted at, he's wrong or he's out of line. Or in the case with Daniels, an aggressive black male getting out of character with a homosexual (less aggressive) black male. Anytime something is owed to us whether it be money or an explanation for your actions, we're always painted as wrong for even bringing it up!

They'll do all kinds of underhanded shyt and play little games and smile in your face and then try to fukk you. But they have the convenience to be calm because nobody is destroying something they built from the ground up. It's just divide and conquer to them while on our end legacies get destroyed and lifelong friendships crumble. Suge is a criminal and used criminality to build a dominant label, but he never built the artists themselves. They were already hot. Dame was taking no name people and turning them into Hip Hop superstars of the time.

Dame was really bad with the money. He felt like he was entitled to every dollar earned, when in fact, they moved as a team. He would spend money without notifying Biggs and hov first.

He wasn’t totally to blame, but he definitely got caught up in the millionaire lifestyle.
