listenin' to the chronic 2001 right now and hearin' eminem rip these beats ("what's the difference" and "forget about dre") to shreds got me thinkin' back on just how great of an mc he was back then. he was like a damn robot back then. it was like he was programmed to spit nothin' but greatness.....
from his work on the chronic 2001, features on missy's song, the next friday soundtrack, the soundbombing 2 compilation etc. then the slim shady lp, his magum opus with the marshall mathers lp, the eminem show, 8 mile soundtrack and then the movie

it's crazy to now think bout just how popular he was back then too because so much has changed since then. hell, he collaborates with pop singers now for one, lol. but bruh was big (pause) as shyt back then. it was like he was on his own fukkin' island. he's still a brand in 2014 but back in 99' and more so in like 2000 when the marshall mathers lp came out; that muthafukka (em) was the best thing since slice bread to many in tuned with hip hop and entertainment on a whole. you had to be livin' under a rock to not know who the fukk he was
and whether you like his music or not, one thing that can't be denied is his knack and talent for bein' a great lyricist and mc back then. he's among the elite and made his mark in hip hop music
when i really think about how great eminem was in his prime and all that he accomplish all across the map, i could see how one could say he's in their top 5. bruh was once of the most popular and or thee most popular mc at one particular point in time
