By now the general public has seen CM Punk get wrecked by Mickey Gall in his UFC debut. Many people figured it’d be the last we’d see of Phil Brooks in the octagon but recent comments by Dana White say otherwise.

Dana discussed Punk’s future on a recent episode of the ‘UFC Unfiltered’ Podcast:

So what I told him to do, go home, spend some time with your wife, be normal for a little while and we’ll get on the phone and talk,” White said. “Obviously we haven’t talked yet but we will, we’ll see what’s next.

Dana is leaving the door open for a ‘next,’ which is kind considering Punk didn’t land a significant strike in his first UFC appearance. Dana is chalking up the embarrassing performance to nerves.

“I don’t care how big of a superstar you are anywhere. If you were in the WWE but even if you were in PRIDE or you were in any of these other organizations out there, your first walk into that Octagon in a (expletive) sold out arena. Let me tell you, it will get anybody,” White said.

“Everybody gets those jitters the first time and we knew. I don’t ever throw cans at any of these guys that come from anywhere. You want to fight in the UFC, you’re going to fight a real guy and Mickey Gall might have been 2-0 but Mickey Gall is legit. That kid’s a tough kid, he’s a tough up and comer and I respect Punk for giving it a shot.”

UFC fighter Mike Jackson, who has a UFC and MMA record of 0-1, with his loss suffered at the hands of Mickey Gall, recently told MMA Junkie he wants to be CM Punk’s second opponent in UFC. Below are some quotes from Jackson on wanting to face the also 0-1 CM Punk. On wanting to face CM Punk:

“I’ve gotten wind that Punk wants to get another fight, and it only makes sense.”

On a bout with CM Punk being good for business:

“It’s about making money. I’m a businessman, so I understand the logistics of all of this. As a fight fan, I remember when I heard about (Punk fighting in MMA). I was like, ‘No, no one wants to see that.’ But people are going to tune in for the spectacle of it.”

On what he and Punk have in common:

“The experience is the same. We both have a loss to Mickey Gall. He can’t go in there and fight dudes with a lot of experience, as opposed to bringing in someone else with very limited MMA experience. It only makes sense to put us both in there.”

Be a well respected legit top person in one company but be greedy and think the grass is greener on the other side simply because you're not on cereal boxes and go to another company and get beat in the first round and lose all respect and credibility in one night brehs :sas2:
