Basically what I've been saying for years. We need balance.

Ain't nothing wrong with turning up or listening to ignorant shyt but that's all we hear nowadays. It's not just radio and television it's social media and music websites as well. Payola runs rampant in all areas (which is illegal) shyt is like legit brainwashing :smh:

There's like 10 young thugs to 1 Kendrick

This. And I'm entirely sure there are conscious rappers who are Hit-Ready as well. It's just, ignorant lyrics are easier to digest, and people like the same recycled songs instead of some creativity. Nothing's wrong with having party songs. It's just, that's all we hear and 90% of that is similar. It's like with Can't Tell Me Nothing, that's an ignorant song. But, it's done in such a fresher and creative way that you can enjoy that in an either chill or hype setting.

So I don't think it's purely hate on party music. I think it's moreso a sign that we need WAY more creative rappers than what are currently out.

A lot of people have agreed with what D'angelo is talking about. When Jeezy first came out with TM101, the appeal of it wasn't that Jeezy was an amazing rapper. In fact, people conceded that he wasn't a good rapper. The music appealed to people who were a part of that lifestyle or wanted to be a part of it. Jeezy even said he wasn't a rapper. He compared himself to MLK in regard to what he said he was doing for the people. Jeezy was hit with a lot of :usure::dahell::childplease: comments from people for saying it. With that being said, it's easy to see why D'angelo has problem with going from Malcolm X t-shirts and hats to Snowman t-shirts. People were co-signing it because they wanted something to be a part of it even if it was perceived as negative. It's not a condemnation of Jeezy as much as it is an observation. Even still, when Jeezy came out, there were other options (Common's BE, Kanye West's Late Registration, Little Brother's Minstrel Show). I can't speak on Young Thug because I don't follow or listen to his music. Even though I don't listen to Young Thug, I know people who do and it's not really much else from this generation of rappers they miss with aside from Rich Homie, Boosie, Lucci, and a few others.

nikkas wore African medallions and X hats while blowing each other brains out at record levels. It was a trend.

People today are actually more conscious and aware then BITD, even if the music is dumber. Learning institutions have been taken over by social justice advocates for better or for worse.

I hate Prince, James Brown, and Michael Jackson because they don't make music about algebra, supercalifragilisticespianadocious and the effects homosexual polygamy on Ancient Rome:troll:

Music should never be fun:flabbynsick:I'm gonna go listen to School House Rock now
All three of them made songs that at least reference racism or the Black experience in the US, alongside making songs about dance songs.

Kendrick lamar and who else? Lmao

The gp acts like Kendrick is the first concious rapper in the history in music.

Hes just the first to really break through the mainstream.
I wouldn't say that.
Public Enemy, KRS-One, Mos Def and Talib Kweli, a huge chunk of Kanye's early to mid career music, Lupe Fiasco, etc.
He's one in a rather long list.

As a listener of Young Thug I will vouch that yes his music is stupid. Young Thug lyrics and the way he talk and rap its impossible to rap this nikka out loud without sounding like a complete retard. the shyt is hilarious.

Jeezy "My house stupid big even my rooms got rooms" :myman:

Hannibal "No Jeezy those are closets" :snoop:
