Music
These are some of my favorite apps. I
bolded the ones that I currently use
Music: Songza is basically a superior version of Pandora. Instead of searching by artist, you can search by genre, mood, and it suggests different playlists based on time of day.
Spotify is a service that has a database of studio albums and soundtracks. It's simple, allows you to search by artist, album, song title, etc. You can also create your own playlists and "download", which allows you to listen to the songs offline. For $10/month (or less
if you hurry), you can use Spotify Premium, which is ad-free. If you're a student, that fee is halved. Jack's Music Widget was one of the few widgets that was compatible with Spotify, so I downloaded that as well. While I use Spotify way more often, Songza is a nice change of pace. Both have apps on iOS and whatever computer you may use
Movies: Don't really use my phone for movies, but Netflix has an app, which would be useful for watching (obviously) or if you have a Chromecast. There's a Plex app as well, if you know what that is
Games: A few of my personal favorites are Subway Surfers, Don't Touch the White Tiles (Piano Keys on iOS), Candy Crush, Unblock Me, Minion Rush & Flappy Bird (PM me if you need help finding the last two). A couple more extensive games (I never got into em due to time constraints) are Tapped Out & Clash of Clans
Browsers: But if you use Opera,
Google Chrome or Firefox on your computer, I suggest you download the corresponding Android app. This allows you to sync your history and bookmarks between your phone & computer
Launchers: A launcher is always dope, but optional. Allows for variety from the default homescreens.
Nova is the most basic one, but that's not a bad thing at all. Emulates your current screen(s), and allows for more speed. Themer has tons of different homescreens for you to choose from. Aviate is another cool one that categorizes your apps. I've used all of these at different points over the last year. Buzz & Everything Me are two more popular launchers, but I've never used em
Viral Lite is a pop-up Youtube player, which allows you to play videos within other apps. Very dope to me
GO SMS/invi: Again, not necessary, but allow for a different look for text messaging. Can't speak for invi, but GO pops up within other apps, which makes texting a bit faster and more convenient.
Kii/Swiftkey: Alternate keyboards with emoji support, swiping features. Kii allows you to install a custom background for your keyboard. A little extra imo, but cool nonetheless
Swipepad/
Switchr: These apps are pretty simple. Set up a gesture, and they allow you to jump from app-to-app without having to go to your homescreen first
Outside of that, get
Dropbox or Google Drive for cloud storage
Welcome to the Android experience. Eat breh!
