Actually a huge percentage of Americans immigrated in the early 20th century (1/3rd of the population) - Italians, Irish, Jews - and those people helped catapult America to its riches. That was all immigration. At the time Italian, Irish, and Jews weren’t considered white until the 1940s and were considered dirty immigrants. Sound familiar?

You could say the same then and now. And all throughout its history in this country. Immigration is a good for this country and keeps money, skilled and unskilled labor flowing in. It brings in tax money, it brings in new ideas and entrepreneurship, it contributes to better international cooperation. It keeps our birthrate up and our population increasing which is good because by landmass we are a big country that can handle it. A lot of these people go into the military which helps keep us a large and well staffed military. Our tech industry is a giant because of immigration. Our research institutions and innovations is where it is because of it. It’s a net good and has been a net good for a long time.

Hmm…ever heard of the bracero program? The US invited Mexican laborers due to the shortage of agricultural workers in world war 2. I would say that without those workers the war effort would have been severely hampered.
