Dave is complex. Ive been to so many of his standup performances over the years. If i were to describe him i would say either a centrist or right leaning Democrat.

Dave is an entertainer and like most entertainers, he is ideologically hollow. One minute he’s bringing out a NAZI like Elon musk on stage and hanging with racists like Joe Rogan and the next he’s calling bill maher a racist. One minute he’s a Republican, next he’s a democrat. It doesn’t make him complex, it makes him vacuous.

Dave Chapelle like many “successful” people would be written off as the hypocritical unprincipled rambling buffoons that they are if we actually lived in a society that valued integrity over fame and fortune. I remember on SNL when he said white Americans voted for trump because they thought he was going to bring jobs back, attempting to sanitize the racism and bigotry of white Americans.

In reality, trump mobilized the white vote by pushing race-based mass deportations, anti-immigrant rhetoric, and actual symbolism of a wall to keep nonwhite people out of the country. It had nothing to do with jobs. I hate when entertainers think the bubbles they live in is reality. He probably got that talking point from his best friend Joe Rogan.

Those bits weren’t recent at all, and he wasn’t even caping for MAGA. He was actually making fun of the KKK dude because he’s rich while this racist is working as a cashier at KFC and asking dumb questions. He was saying if he was already about to bust, and she randomly blurted that out, nothing’s gonna stop him from getting that nut. He was being silly and joking because that’s his profession.
