The crazy part about it is every straight person who watched The Closer BEFORE the backlash came away with a greater sense of empathy for LGBTQ+ community. Then the backlash came and everyone Dave won over for a community that isn’t even his turned against that community because they see the bullshyt. The LGBTQ+ community started fighting a fight that wasn’t even there—their collective insecurity, however justified, got ahead of them and now they’re in a worse position than they would have been in with regard to public perception than if they’d have just let The Closer ride out.

Being a veteran comedian in this particular instance doesn't mean shyt considering the fact that HS kids aren't his obvious target audience :mjlol:

Being a veteran comedian absolutely does “mean shyt” despite your baseless attempts at trying to dismiss it.

They clapped at him, he clapped back. They got their feelings hurt, he eventually successfully moved on to the reason he was there. Only you and the overly sensitive kids (and their parents) who decided to get froggy are in their feelings about how it opened. Kids learned a valuable lesson that day. You start throwing stones, stones can be thrown back at you. :yeshrug:

What does that have to do with what I said :skip:

He got defensive with a group of high school and didn't like their response, so he resorted to petty "I'm richer than you" response when you can't come up with something better like that was going to make the situation better.

Are you a teacher? If not you have no idea what it is to handle a large body of children or teenagers acting out is like.

These are not toddlers and they were not required to attend the event. If Dave is so triggering, they could have just skipped the assembly. But no, they chose to participate and some even got on the mic and said their peace.

They didn’t like what he had to say so they ran to a sympathetic media to cry about it.

Are you really going to insist that teenagers should have the situation better when we've literally seen how grown adults have reacted to the situation :mjlol:

Calling :duck: because most people don’t really bring that energy/confrontation in person and since he’s Dave Chapelle most are going to be all goodey in his presence.

Funny you feel this way cause in his specials he always talks about how people approach him and say something wild or try to do something wild to him...

It doesn't mean shyt because he's dealing with teenagers and not adults who his comedy is more tailored to. Whether you agree with it or not, it's a different way that you navigate that situation and you'd be lying if you said otherwise.

Compare teachers to a comedian that kids could less about nor respect :mjlol:

Everyone isn't going to give you the positive affirmation or reaction that you want. That's life in general.

Man thats crazy. 16 years old.

These kids were born AFTER youtube, google, Facebook, twitter and instagram were already in full swing. The generational divide/disconnect is probably more extreme than its ever been.

Millenials altleast remember what the world was like before internet was king and before social media was even a thing. These teens wouldn't even be able to imagine a world where none of these things existed. They probably think mostly everyone in the world has a twitter account and that all music ever created is currently on spotify.

I just cant imagine growing up and interacting with the world according to what a bunch of ig/twitter accounts say. Like damn just being exposed to 1000000 worthless azz opinions per minute while youre already a confused emotional kid and your brain is still forming, hormones are raging, and you dont know a fxcking thing about the world. If the parenting isnt on point, its over. How do you not get brainwashed

Yes and most them did. The ones with an agenda are the ones who ran to the media to continue the Dave is anti LGBTQ narrative currently being peddled by the media.

You sound wholly ignorant. Throughout his career, Dave has had to navigate audiences of many different kinds (from different races, socioeconomic statuses, cultures, ages, etc). Dave knows what he’s doing.

These are HS kids. They’re closer to college kids than elementary school kids. They’re at that age where protesting for some altruistic principle is pretty much a rite of passage. Stop pretending that they’re some Rubik’s Cube that Dave can’t figure out with his decades of experience in the limelight. The fact that you’re saying they should have been met with kiddie gloves is part of the problem: Stop coddling these kids! Let them come of age! Better they learned this lesson now in a safe space like a gym auditorium.

Look I don't know what specific political thing set them off but if I was trans I wouldn't be giving a fukk about Dave's exposure:mjlol:

It's like gay respectability politics, why do they have to moderate their image and hope people like Dave feel empathetic, why can't they demand respect like anyone else:patrice:
